Kim Jong-il ‘Has Not Appointed a Successor’

North Korean leader Kim Jong-il is well and has not appointed a successor, the North’s no. 2 official claimed Thursday. Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of North Korea’s Supreme People’s Assembly told Japan’s Kyodo news agency Monday, “The matter of inheriting the revolutionary traditions is important. Official documents have confirmed that North Korean leader Kim Jong Il’s third son, Kim Jong Un, will succeed his father as the nation’s next leader.

According to several internal documents of the North Korean authorities that the Mainichi has obtained, Pyongyang is hastily preparing the way for Kim Jong Un to take over.
